About this project

The purpose of this device is to enable people without any body mobility to paint

(Japanese calligraphy in this specific example) by using eye tracking software on a

computer to control a paint brush attached to a robotic machine.

The challenge

When Michelle was a kid she lived in Japan and studied calligraphy, but was unable to pursue her hobby because of her neuromuscular disease worsened. She would like to find a way to continue doing what she loves.

Who it helps

Michelle is a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic with a degenerative neuromuscular disease. She is a non-traditional student at Columbia University.
