U-Cuff Mount

U-Cuff Mount - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Shepherd Center community

The challenge

The Shepherd Center strives to increase patients' independence

when performing activities of daily living such as holding small items

like hygiene tools.

Who it helps

Intended users of this U-Cuff Mount are individuals with limited hand

dexterity. This could lead to difficulty hold small items like hygiene tools.

How it works

The U-Cuff Mount is a handheld, 3D printed device that uses a

customizable, universal cuff, Velcro straps, backing, and base to

secure various hand-held items to the hand.

The U-Cuff Mount limits the need for fine motor movements when

using small, handheld items by attaching items to the hand with a

custom cuff rather than requiring the fingers to grasp.

Tools needed

PC or MAC I7 +

Fusion 360

Prusa slicer

FDM Printer
