Universal Bottle opener

Universal Bottle opener - open-source assistive technology prototype by the New York University community

The challenge

Brian had a stroke leaving his left arm paralyzed. He is looking for a way to open a bottle or jar of any size with one hand.

Who it helps

Anyone with use of one hand only

How it works

The device holds the bottle or jar down securely, allowing the user to twist off the lid with their dominant hand without having to use another hand to hold it down.

The device allows the user to secure the bottle or jar in the clamp, and it can be attached to any surface with the use of suction cups.

Tools needed

Prusa slicer

Hot glue gun

FDM Printer
