Airplane Wheelchair (OLD)

The challenge

Wheelchair users are often forced to check their wheelchair with their luggage when they fly. This reduces their sense of independence, and allows the possibility of their chair being damaged in transit.

How it works

The users will be able to use the chair to board the plane, safely stow the chair on the plane, and then use it as normal at their destination.

A wheelchair that can be configured to fit within an airplane aisle for boarding, can fold into the size of a carry-on to be stowed, and later be re-configured for use as a regular wheelchair at the destination.
