The device was made to help people with knee problems. The device is made up of 2 major parts – for the 2 legs. With Velcro and PVC it attaches under and over the knee. It has an electromagnet which is doing the locking of the joints. There is a sensor under the heel. The whole thing is powered by an ordinary 9V battery.
This device was created for helping Mimi walk. It locks her knee joint when her weight is on the corresponding leg. The project began in the first TOM Makeathon for Bulgaria. The project has been ongoing for 72 hours.
The initial need-knower was one lady who can’t move her fingers and has a problem with knee muscles. Her response has been very positive and good. In future development can be made a device which moves her fingers.
