Automotive Hand-control straps

Automotive Hand-control straps - open-source assistive technology concept by the University of Alabama community

The challenge

To create a more secure connection between the device and the vehicle pedals, thereby increasing safety and user ergonomics.

Who it helps

Individuals with lower limb mobility disabilities who use hand-controls to operate their personal vehicles.

How it works

The new strap design incorporates an adjustable clasp that allows for seamless integration around the vehicle pedals and stay rigid while driving.

By using flexible, adjustable straps, the product allows users to more securely fit their hand-control device around varying shapes of vehicle pedals.
