Backpack holder for Powerchair

Backpack holder for Powerchair - open-source assistive technology concept by the University of Pittsburgh community

The challenge

Brenda carries a lot of her and her daughter's things in her backpack, and cannot access it without her husband. She is looking for a solution that holds the backpack on the back of the chair, and rotates it around the side for easy access.

Who it helps

Any powerchair user who would like access to a large bag or backpack, where it is inconvenient to have on the side (maneuvering through doors and into vehicles).

How it works

This solution addresses the problem by housing the backpack on the back of their chair to allow easy assess through doors, but provides an easy way to access the backpack on the side of the chair through a crank placed in an accessible location.

This solution is a rotating backpack holder that rests on the back of the chair, and can be rotated around to the side for easy access by a crank.
