Berlin Heart Carrier

Berlin Heart Carrier - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM@Care community

The challenge

The Berlin Heart is a heavy machine, which made every getting

out of bed to a difficult procedure. Ofek's mother had to carry the

machine carefully and close to Ofek. The Berlin Heart Carrier allowed Ofek to walk around independently.

Who it helps

Children waiting for heart transplant surgery, and connected to Berlin Heart machine.

How it works

The Berlin Heart Carrier allowed Ofek and his mother to move around

easily with the machine thanks to the wheels.

It could also be connected to Ofek’s baby stroller and even allowed

Ofek to walk around independently.

A carrier adapted to the Berlin Heart machine,

can be connected to a baby stroller or be moved as an

independent unit.
