Bounce - Independent play for non-mobile children.

Bounce - Independent play for non-mobile children. - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Melbourne community

The challenge

Being non-mobile greatly hinders a child’s ability to take part in fundamental development activities. Bounce provides these children an opportunity to play independently and take part in an enjoyable, highly rewarding, physical activity.

Who it helps

Naina is a young girl who is non-mobile due to her disability. A Jumperoo was one of Naina's only ways to experience free and active play, but she has long since outgrown this and is seeking a new product to use.

How it works

Bounce allows non-mobile children to move and play independently in the way that is not often available to them. The design allows users to participate in the fundamental activities of play and physical movement to aid in their development.

Bounce is a frame which will integrate into the home environment and provide engagement for the user. The product keeps the user supported with a harness and elastic straps to provide them with the freedom to move and bounce safely.
