Finger-Mounted Charging Cord Extension

Finger-Mounted Charging Cord Extension - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Shepherd Center community

The challenge

The Shepherd Center strives to increase patients' independence

when performing activities of daily living such as charging small

devices.

Who it helps

Intended users of this Finger-Mounted Charging Cord Extension are

individuals with limited finger dexterity. This could lead to difficulty using the heads of small charging cords.

How it works

The Finger-Mounted Charging Cord Extension limits the need for fine

motor movements when holding and inserting the head of a charging

cord by adding large finger loop extensions.

The Finger-Mounted Charging Cord Extension is a quarter-sized, 3D-

printed device that secures the charger between two finger loops

that allow the user to hold and insert the head of a charging cord

while maintaining static finger positioning.

Tools needed

Fusion 360
