Finger-Mounted Small Item Holder

Finger-Mounted Small Item Holder - open-source assistive technology product by the Shepherd Center community

About this project

The Finger-Mounted Small Item Holder is a palm-sized, 3D printed attachment with three circular mounts. The outer two mounts are used for grasping and item manipulation using two fingers, and the small item is securely placed inside the inner circle.

The challenge

The Finger-Mounted Small Item Holder allows for the use of two static fingers, rather than complex fine movement, to grasp and use small objects of daily living.

Who it helps

Intended users of this Finger-Mounted Small Item Holder are individuals with limited grip strength or hand dexterity.

How it works

The Finger-Mounted Small Item Holder does not require a high-level of hand dexterity to grasp and purposefully move the inserted object. Rather, two static fingers may be used for object manipulation.

Tools needed
