A sign language translation app "HandsUp" that translates spoken language, both text and audio, to sign language using a 3D avatar or fictional person, and vice versa, in order to break down communication barriers and alleviate deaf people's fears.
Many deaf and hard of hearing students have a fear of communication due to the lack of access to sign language translators. They fear not being able to effectively communicate in various aspects of life, including education, employment, and healthcare.
The Palestinian Red Crescent School for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Deaf was established in 1997, with the objective of providing comprehensive educational and rehabilitation services to deaf students.
The deaf person can communicate with others by translating text or audio sent to him into sign language via avatar, and the hearing person can understand what the deaf person is trying to communicate by translating SL into text or audio via real-time video
