Hearo

Hearo - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

This project is needed because Deaf and HoH people can use this as a tool to aid their driving. This system allows them to know when a honk or siren is around them on the road as well as which direction that sound is coming from.

Who it helps

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community is everyone in the world who are either Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

How it works

This solution will address the challenge by directly showing the driver where the honk/siren is coming from.

We are building a module that will be placed in the dashboard of the car. This module contains a Nano BLE 33 Sense which has an AI dataset that we built in it. There are also LEDs and an LCD screen that display the module.

Tools needed

Protective glasses

PC or MAC I7 +

Measurement tool

Hot glue gun

FDM Printer

Soldering set
