Stroke patients with fine motor deficits struggle to use slippery hospital remotes, losing autonomy and increasing clinical burden on nurses. This overlay is needed to restore patient independence and reduce non-medical calls, benefiting both groups.
The primary users are patients recovering from stroke, specifically those who experience diminished fine motor control, reduced finger strength, or sensory difficulties.
The textured handle prevents slipping, while indented silicone tops guide thumbs and bottom cones concentrate press force onto the remote buttons, making them significantly easier for stroke patients to operate.
The Remote Overlay is a silicone overlay that sits atop remotes. Held by a 3D-printed case, it will allow for reduced force of activation and greater tactile response for patients without fine and gross motor strength.
