IRAZU: Quadriplegic's Mouth Joystick Mouse with Adaptive Puff-Click Controller

IRAZU: Quadriplegic's Mouth Joystick Mouse with Adaptive Puff-Click Controller - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

Commercially available assistive devices designed for people with quadriplegia can be prohibitively expensive. "Irazu" eliminates this barrier by providing a low-cost alternative that families, or their caregivers, can build themselves.

Who it helps

Irazu is a device designed to alleviate the current hardware limitations for individuals with paralysis from the neck down, who cannot afford alternative control devices to operate their computers.

It is distributed through a free do-it-yourself manual.

How it works

It offers an affordable and sustainable assistive device, enabling hands-free computer control, overcoming affordability barriers and improving the quality of life for those facing mobility challenges.

This low-cost, sustainable, and easy-to-build assistive technology device uses a hands-free interface, allowing users to control their computers using head or lip movements for cursor navigation and breathing control (blow) to click.
