Jero's Bike

Jero's Bike - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Medellín community

About this project

The team of makers built for Jeronimo an adaptation of a bicycle. This tricycle protects his ergonomics and is safe for him to ride independently. Some of the adjustments that had to be made include adding one more wheel to the bicycle, having a chair that has back support, the pedals have a shoe attached so that pedaling is easier and safer.

The challenge

To create a prototype that allows greater functionality and balance for Jero while riding his bike.

Who it helps

Jerónimo lives with his parents in Carmen de Vivoral, Antioquia. One of his favorite activities is to ride a bicycle and to improve this practice. Jero has cerebral palsy, which is a condition that affects the movement of the body. He attends rehabilitation programs.
