Long Shower Brush Handle

Long Shower Brush Handle - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Shepherd Center community

The challenge

Traditional shower brush handles are thin, requiring considerable

hand dexterity and grip strength to utilize. This project allows the

user a custom handle for independence while using a shower brush.

Who it helps

Intended users of this Long Shower Brush Handle are individuals with

limited hand dexterity or grip strength, which makes it difficult to grasp a

shower brush handle without assistance.

How it works

The Long Shower Brush Handle limits the need for hand dexterity or

grip strength when operating a shower brush by using custom

splinting attached to the hand rather than a thin stem.

The Long Shower Brush Handle is a custom, 3D-printed device that

uses clamps and slots for custom splinting material. This attaches to

most long shower brushes and secures to the user's hand.
