Compactible Shower Stabilizer

Compactible Shower Stabilizer - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Georgia Tech community

About this project

The Compactible Shower Stabilizer is a collapsible, suction-based shower handle with a waterproof phone attachment that can be used at home or on the road. The handle will provide stability in the shower, and

the phone attachment will allow the Need-Knower to contact others while in the shower.

The challenge

Create something for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) that would help with symptoms that occur while in the shower. The hot water can cause fainting, which can then only be attended to if someone happens to walk in the bathroom. The goal is to create a system that could provide handheld support and a way to notify a partner of symptoms.

Who it helps

Sarah is a student at Georgia State. She is majoring in Exercise Science because she hopes to one day work in a cardiac rehab facility.
