Partitions for bridge matches - open-source assistive technology product by the Tel Aviv University community

About this project

Designed for bridge players who cannot play during COVID-19.

The product allows bridge players to play while

maintaining social distance and sterility

There are no similar low-cost solutions on the market.

The product consists of two modular transparent

partitions, which can simply be assembled

together and placed on a table to allow a

safe Bridge game.

The challenge

During the COVID-19 pandemic, playing cards with friends was not a viable option. TOM:TAU aimed to design a affordable product that allowed people to play bridge (and similar games) with friends while keeping themselves safe and healthy.

The TOM community at Tel Aviv University was founded in 2018. The community has several activities that happen in parallel. The main activity is four teams consisting of students from all engineering disciplines who develop technology and accessories. Additionally, the TOM community leads the collaboration between the School of Mechanical Engineering and Physiotherapy. The partnership results in final projects that meet the needs of local people.

Who it helps

The product allows bridge players to play while maintaining social distance and sterility.

How it works

This product is accessible to the public thanks to TOM's partnership with Poalim for the Community.

Bridge players who cannot play during COVID-19

Social distancing precautions make it difficult for players to play in groups. There are currently no low cost similar solutions on the market.

The product consists of two modular transparent partitions, which can simply be assembled together and placed on a table in order to allow a safe Bridge game.
