Retractable Low-Dexterity Dog Clasp

Retractable Low-Dexterity Dog Clasp - open-source assistive technology working model by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

Current clasps used to connect leashes to service dog collars are difficult to use for individuals with disabilities.

Who it helps

Individuals with Low Dexterity

How it works

This clasp has larger touch points than typical bolt-snap clasps. In addition to this, one won’t need to wrap fingers around anything to use the clasp, and the clasp locks open to make it easier to attach (whereas other clasps only lock closed).

A clasp that can be easily used by individuals with low dexterity who have service dogs.

Tools needed

Protective glasses
