NATALIE - Tenodesis activated tool for helper dog and everyday life - open-source assistive technology working model by the University of Southern California community

The challenge

To help tackle different needs for people with spinal cord injury. As current tools is quite expensive, we plan to have this tool be easily customisable for various needs and problem.

Who it helps

People with C5 spinal cord injury or anyone who are paralysed from the waist down but can still use their upward wrist motion

How it works

Allowed Natalie to pick up after her helper dog and also have a tools to help her move stuff around.

A Tenodesis activated tool that can help Natalie pick up her dog poop during the day and can also be swapped out for a grabber for normal everyday use. It is parametric in design and can be adapted to multiple use cases.
