Communication Tool

The challenge

This project is needed because the NK wants to communicate her wants and needs effectively to her caregivers. She tries to use her tablet, but ultimately gives up in the process, and is unable to express herself vocally, greatly impacting her life.

Who it helps

The Need-Knower has Autism Spectrum Disorder, and has the mental capacity of a 4-year-old despite being 16.

How it works

This solution will address the challenges by facilitating effective communication through an adaptive device that can either connect/add to her current communication tool (tablet) or provide a separate solution.

The solution we are proposing is a Communication Tool similar to PECS, but adapted to her texture preferences and comprehensive abilities.
