The device is composed of two main structures: a tent and a staircase. The tent has a base made out of plastic sewn together with fabric, and is cut out on the top with a hole, allowing the hand held shower to pass through. It is waterproof and can dry easily. Inside, there is a custom-made chair that can also be easily removed or taken out.
The current conditions of Sara and her main caretaker (mother) challenge the makers 2019 to build a device that allows Sara's mother to bathe her in a safer way.
Sara goes to school and loves being with her friends, her diagnosis of spina bifida does not allow her to walk, so she moves with her mother's support in a wheelchair. Sara works with her family to achieve higher levels of independence in basic activities such as eating, dressing and bathing.
The build files for Sara's Bath are free to download from this page - open source, shared by TOM: Tikkun Olam Makers.
