Shoe Heel Guide

Shoe Heel Guide - open-source assistive technology product by the Shepherd Center community

About this project

The Shoe Heel Guide is a palm-sized, 3D-printed device that uses a curved, rigid heel adaptation that allows the heel of the foot to easily slip into most everyday footwear. Optional strings pull off the shoe without bending down to adjust.

The challenge

The Shepherd Center strives to increase patients' independence

when performing activities of daily living such as putting on footwear.

Who it helps

Intended users of the Shoe Heel Guide are individuals with limited lumbar movement or control, as well as limited hand dexterity or foot flexion.

How it works

The Shepherd Center strives to increase patients' independence when performing activities of daily living such as putting on footwear.

The Shoe Heel Guide limits the need for lumbar movement, hand dexterity, and foot flexion when putting on footwear by adding a hard heel backing and pull-on strings
