Tap On is a 3D-printed device designed to extend a sink faucet to make it easier to reach the tap. This design is specifically made to fit IKEA sink faucets as part of Milbat, IKEA, TOM, and Access Israel's ThisAbles project. Tap On is a ThisAbles project designed to address a common household challenge: turning on the faucet. There are many people with a variety of abilities who have trouble reaching the tap to turn on their sink, whether they use a wheelchair, have limited arm or shoulder mobility, or simply cannot reach the tap.
ThisAbles is a joint project of Ikea-Israel, Milbat organization and Access Israel organization. In the framework of the project, a team of Milbat product designers and occupational therapists developed a variety of special devices and add-ons that enable people with disabilities to use and enjoy Ikea products.
Our design makes faucets easier to reach. The product attaches to IKEA faucets and extends the handle, turning hard-to-reach taps into a faucet that can be used by everyone.
This product is accessible to the public thanks to TOM's partnership with Poalim for the Community.
ThisAbles Tap On was designed to allow people with special needs to enjoy the quality of life provided by IKEA products. This product is designed for people who have trouble reaching sink faucets. This can be for a variety of people; whether they are children, short, people who use wheelchairs, or anyone else looking for a way to turn on hard-to-reach faucets..
The beauty of Tap On is that it allows people with different abilities to use mainstream IKEA faucets, so we aim to make our design as accessible as possible. Therefore, our design is readily available on our open-source website, and it is easy to download and print independently using a 3D-printer.
As part of IKEA’s mission to “create a better everyday life for as many people as possible,” Milbat & Access Israel joined forces to develop a new, revolutionary line of products to bridge the gap and enable more people to enjoy IKEA products.
