The challenge

Easy Handle is a ThisAbles project designed to address the challenge of opening various household doors and cabinets. Handles can often be small or difficult to manipulate for people with limited finger mobility. Easy Handle is a great way to open doors with an open hand or forearm.

ThisAbles is a joint project of Ikea-Israel, Milbat organization and Access Israel organization. In the framework of the project, a team of Milbat product designers and occupational therapists developed a variety of special devices and add-ons that enable people with disabilities to use and enjoy Ikea products.

How it works

This product is accessible to the public thanks to TOM's partnership with Poalim for the Community.

ThisAbles Easy Handle is designed to enable people with special needs to enjoy the quality of life provided by IKEA products. This product is design for people with limited hand mobility who may have trouble opening cabinets or other storage solutions.

Cabinets and other storage containers often have small handles that can be difficult to grasp for a variety of people. Our product aims to ensure that as many people as possible can access and use IKEA furniture independently.

This product attaches to the side of the door and enlarges the grip area. The handle ensures an easier opening experience.

A handle for opening the door with the forearm or the whole hand.

The handle comes in two versions: for opening with the right or left hand, based on the user’s ability/need.
