Accessible RC Car for Low Motor Skill Users

Accessible RC Car for Low Motor Skill Users - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

Many children with motor limitations find it difficult to use standard RC car remotes because they require precise finger movements and coordination. This can limit participation in play activities and reduce opportunities for social interaction.

Who it helps

Children with muscle tone and motor difficulties, for whom an accessible solution can provide a more independent way to play, participate, and feel included in their environment.

How it works

This product replaces precise hand-operated controls with larger and more accessible activation methods, reducing the need for fine motor skills and allowing users to participate in play activities more independently and comfortably.

We are offering an accessible control system for an RC car that includes foot pedals, low-profile buttons, and raised buttons, allowing users to choose the interface most comfortable for their motor abilities and range of movement.
