Sara has tetralogy of fallot.This a combination of four abnormalities. The 4 defects include a ventricular septal defect (VSD), pulmonary valve stenosis, a misplaced aorta and a thickened right ventricular wall (right ventricular hypertrophy). This causes oxygen-poor blood to flow out of the heart and into the rest of the body.
Because of this disability, Sara Grace cannot stay outside in the heat for long periods of time since her body cannot regulate her temperature well. When it’s above 78ºF, she can only be outside in very short periods. This prevents her from being outside most of the summer unless she is going swimming.
Sara and her family are back for their second year at a TOM:Vanderbilt make-a-thon. She loves to wear hats and play with her family.
