Handheld Makeup Mirror

Handheld Makeup Mirror - open-source assistive technology concept by the Melbourne community

The challenge

To design an affordable mirror allowing Anna to see the left side of her face, improving her experience applying makeup, styling her hair, and putting on jewellery. The mirror should be accessible to all people with vision loss particularly in one eye.

Who it helps

Anna is a make-up enthusiast who struggles with her daily makeup routine as she is unable to see the left side of her face in the mirror.

How it works

The Mirror boards' angles can be adjusted providing Anna flexibility to view all parts of her face, simplifying makeup, hair styling, and jewellery application. Its compact, lightweight design ensures portability and user-friendly convenience.

A portable 2 Way mirror which can be easily mounted onto a wall using a suction cup. The design is modular and inexpensive, constructed out of plywood, a 3D printed casing and off-the-shelf materials.
