How can we keep disinfected when educational institutions open again?
About this project
The group came up with various ideas to solve the issue. First of all, we came up with a kit. The purpose of the kit is to maintain yourself clean. It includes three different prototypes which all have the same purpose: keeping us clean. The first device is a bottle holder. By having an antibacterial bottle at the reach of your hands you would wash your hands with a greater frequency. Also, having a personal bottle would decrease the risk of contagion. The second device is a modified umbrella. The modified umbrella would be mainly used in places like cafeterias. The umbrella has polyethylene flexible sheets around it to protect the user and the whole community. The modified umbrella has on the bottom part support that allows the umbrella to stand still on a desk or cafeteria. The third and last device is a hook that helps the user open doors and uses ATMs without directly touching the handles and ATMs. We also created a face shield that is designed especially for kids. The mask is made especially for kids and even young adults. It is made with a design and size that is perfect for kids. The purpose of the mask is to make sure that kids are excited to wear a mask, therefore, protecting their health and the health of the whole community. To continue the group came up with a device that would protect the students while they are in class. The device is made mainly for classrooms that are not very big and have many desks which makes it harder to spread the desks to maintain the 2 m distance. This device is made so that there is protection surrounding the desk which decreases the chances of contagion. The device is made up mostly of PVC tubes and acetate sheets. The structural support of the device is the PVC tubes, which are connected to the legs of the chair on the right side. What truly protects the user are the acetate sheets that cover the back and right side of the desk. Finally, the group created a circuit with some sensors. The purpose of the device is to alarm when a room already has the maximum capacity of people that can safely be in it. The device warns the person that wants to enter the room and tells him how many people are already in the room. This device is made mainly for rooms like bathrooms or small classrooms.
The challenge
Through this challenge we aim to provide optimal conditions for student’s academic development. School’s are crucial for society’s growth and it must become a priority to protect all of those involved from the contagion of the virus.
