What mechanism can we develop that allows a safer reception of packages?
About this project
During the past 2 weeks, we have been virtually working non-stop on developing a solution to ensure safe package deliveries. After various days of research and brainstorming, our team has developed two prototypes and one protocol to ensure this happens. We developed two prototypes thinking about all of the populations socioeconomic status, our first prototype, the PICKUP BOX is a simple but effective was to disinfect your products at home, it consists of a carton box being wrapped with a plastic bag where you can place most deliveries and form a safe distance disinfect and receive packages. This prototype allows homeowners to get there package with minimum to 0 risks of infection. This is accompanied by simple protocols that allow families to learn how to deal with the different elements that enter their homes through any kind of package that is being delivered, the information obtained for this protocols was taken form government official websites and health announcements by the OMS. The second prototype, the Package Cleaner was built to focus on buildings, company's, and restaurants. This prototype consists of a spray system composed of 6mm diameter hoses, 5 racks or T's and 4 specific spray nozzles for this type of hose, these accessories are distributed so that the spray nozzles are located in the four upper corners of the box, It also has a 12V DC motor pump which is activated by means of a switch and performs the function of pushing the disinfectant from its reservoir or tank to the spray nozzles with sufficient pressure to generate the effect of spraying throughout the interior of the box. The structure of the box is made of PVC pipes and accessories and is covered with a heat and moisture resistant plastic. The protocols we attached to both prototypes as additional information was obtained from at least 5 credible sources.
The challenge
Delivery and reception of package presents a major contagion risk. Because of this, through this challenge, we aim to implement solutions that make this process safer for everyone.
