MediCap

MediCap - open-source assistive technology working model by the Cornell Tech community

The challenge

Managing medication can be difficult for low-vision users. Common challenges include identifying the correct medication, remembering when to take it, and knowing whether a dose has already been taken. MediCap combines tactile tracking and reminders.

Who it helps

Low-vision users who manage daily medication routines, especially people who need simple tactile cues and reminder support to identify medication, track doses, and remember when medication has already been taken.

How it works

It helps users set reminders, hear an alarm at the scheduled time, and physically mark a dose as taken. This supports medication routines by combining reminder cues with tactile tracking in one prototype.

MediCap is a tactile medication tracker with reminder support for low-vision users. It combines a physical dose-tracking cap, a board enclosure, and a web-app-based reminder workflow.
