StabiliCup

StabiliCup - open-source assistive technology working model by the Cornell Tech community

The challenge

This project is needed because standard cups are not designed to accommodate users with limited motor control or visual impairments, making everyday tasks like drinking difficult and potentially unsafe.

Who it helps

The potential users are individuals with limited motor control and/or visual impairments (BLV) who have difficulty safely handling and drinking from standard cups, including those with reduced hand strength, limited dexterity, or low vision.

How it works

This solution improves grip, stability, and safety through enlarged handles and a weighted base, reducing spills and strain. The secure lid prevents leakage, while tactile and thermal cues help users orient the cup and sense temperature.

We are offering a 3D-printed assistive cup designed to improve safety and independence for users with limited motor control and visual impairments. It features enlarged handles, a weighted base for stability, a secure lid, and tactile and thermal cues.
