One Handed Nail Clipper

One Handed Nail Clipper - open-source assistive technology working model by the Beit Halochem Tel Aviv community

The challenge

Standard nail clippers usually require two hands. This project allows people with limited hand function to cut their nails more safely and independently, reducing the need for assistance with a basic personal-care task.

Who it helps

This project was developed for a person with paralysis in their left hand who wanted to independently trim the fingernails on their right, functional hand.

How it works

The holder keeps the nail clipper stable, so it can be used with one hand. Its minimal, lightweight design is easy to carry and move, making nail care safer, simpler, and more independent for people with limited hand function.

A 3D-printed holder that secures a standard nail clipper of any size and allows it to be operated with one hand. It is designed for people with a missing hand, weak grip, limited mobility, or other hand-related challenges.
