Open a door with Wheelchair - open-source assistive technology prototype by the 2021 TOM Global Innovation Challenge (GIC) community

About this project

This tool hopes to act as an extended outreach for Ryan to reach the

door handle and also to hold onto the door as he maneuver his

wheelchair through the door.

The solution is one that is simple and hardy tool that allows Ryan to

hook onto the door handle and twist it open. It also helps him to hold

onto the door after opening it.

Ryan is a student who had limited leg strength and is wheel chair

Bounded. Ryan, on his own, has limited arm strength and difficulties twisting

open doors. We wanted to build a solution to help Ryan be more

independent.

Obstacle Free Warrior is one of the participating projects of the 2021 Global Innovation Challenge.
