Self-feeder Tray

Self-feeder Tray - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Shepherd Center community

The challenge

The Shepherd Center strives to increase patients' independence when performing activities of daily living such as eating.

Who it helps

Intended users of the Self-feeder Tray are individuals with limited upper body dexterity. This could lead to difficulty with feeding themselves.

How it works

This solution uses 3D printed parts, a polycarbonate base, and various hardware.

The solution being offered is a tray with a linkage that can be pushed by the user's chin. The linkage will then push the food further down the feeding tray into the user's mouth.
