Streamline

Streamline - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Georgia Tech community

The challenge

The Streamline project allows those with limited hand dexterity to complete online tasks such as streaming videogames, creating podcasts, and recording/editing videos autonomously. It allows our target user group to gain daily independence in these tasks.

Who it helps

Anyone with cerebral palsy or limited fine motor skills could benefit from our project. We developed a joystick and bite stick that act as a mouse, which offers an alternative to clicking down for those who have limited dexterity in their fingers/hands.

How it works

Ultimately, the joystick solution exponentially increases the longevity and ease of use for those with limited hand dexterity and fine motor skills in completing numerous, daily computer tasks.

We developed an interconnected analog joystick and bite stick. The analog joystick controls the computer mouse's movements; while, the bite stick acts as the mouse clicking down.
