Newark, New Jersey, United States of America
In 2022, the Newark College of Engineering (NCE) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) established this TOM Community. The mission of the NJIT TOM community is to enhance the quality of life for residents of the Greater Newark area and beyond. We intend to implement and build this community by introducing design challenges to our students, which will give them the opportunity to innovate using the Makerspace, design and coding software, or any other modalities. As TOM at NJIT continues to develop, we aim to establish relationships with community-based grassroots organizations so that we can best provide services to those in need. As we continue to expand, we intend to conduct numerous events throughout the year to support local and global communities and increase STEM awareness and skills among underrepresented groups. We look forward to the support and collaboration of our current and new partners with this endeavor.
