Automated Pant - Trouser Wearing Machine - open-source assistive technology prototype by the 2021 TOM Global Innovation Challenge (GIC) community

About this project

This is a trouser wearing machine, that enabled arm amputees to wear trousers

independently without anyone's help. It is quick and easy to use.

The machine is portable and is DC powered. The user can use it

even at the times when there is no access to electricity.The motors

will ensure minimal strain.This has a linear adjustable mechanism

which is flexible for different trouser sizes.

This machine design consists of 2 geared motors on each side which

are attached to supporting rods. The user will fix trouser hooks to

the machine hooks using his mouth. Finally, the pedals should be

pressed to achieve upward and downward motion.

Who it helps

Our need-knower is a 31 year old, whose upper limbs got electrocuted

when he was 12-years old. He is a post-graduate in computer

application. He is working as a graphic designer in Bangalore.
