The ATM will serve as a practical guide for Juan José and other people with cognitive disabilities to use any ATM and thus eliminate one of the common barriers in their daily lives. Our hope is that people like Juan José will be able to enjoy one of the main benefits of having a job and earning a salary, which is being aware of how much money they have in the bank; and handling it in a safe way without the help of a third party.
to create a system that will help him train to use the ATM, that tells him which buttons he should use, and devise a way to protect his password, among other ideas.
Juan José Mejia Henao is 23 years old and is a logistics and mathematics student. Juan José prepares to go into the job market and because of his intellectual disability, he needs help to manage the ATM independently without the need of a companion. He wants to be able to take the cash out of the machine by himself.
