The team was able to come up with the “Fluid Motion Device” (or Fun Making Device as they more commonly call it) control module, and it’s been a real game changer for most of their kids. More recently, their own happy-hacker-with-a-heart-of-gold Issac Merkle rewrote the software to allow us greater control over motor function, as well as helping them add the “fun button” as a means to incentivize the mobility they feel is so important to children’s development.
Our idea was to take it a step further, by designing a control module to allow switch input not only for forwarding propulsion but also to allow power steering, for those kiddos that lacked the strength or ROM to manipulate manual steering mechanisms.
“Go Baby Go,” is a program that provides modified, ride-on cars to young children with disabilities so they can move around independently.
The build files for Go Baby Go are free to download from this page - open source, shared by TOM: Tikkun Olam Makers.
