Head Tilt Sensor and Indicator

Head Tilt Sensor and Indicator - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Vanderbilt University community

The challenge

Patients with neurological impairments cannot sense when their head or body is not truly aligned with

vertical. This results in an unconscious tendency to hold their head and neck in lateral flexion, causing balance issues

and potentially neck pain

Who it helps

Some patients with neurological impairments aren't able to recognize when their head is significantly tilted. This can potentially lead to muscle strain and other issues. Therefore, this project aims to provide solutions to patients to help them.

How it works

The device/design chosen will provide solutions to allow patients to become aware of their posture and correct it.

The design will most likely be a wearable head tilt indicator device.

Tools needed

scissors

scissors

Hot glue gun

Soldering set

Cable stripper
