Modified Stroller

Modified Stroller - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Vanderbilt University community

The challenge

Standard strollers are too small for him, wheelchairs are too bulky for outings, and medical strollers are expensive. This project aims to create a collapsible, affordable stroller that will allow Liam to be wheeled around comfortably and conveniently.

Who it helps

Liam is a 9-year-old with Kleefstra Syndrome, a condition that often leaves him tired after walking for extended periods and gives him difficulties with fine motor skills due to low muscle tone.

How it works

This stroller will allow Liam to be wheeled around comfortably and conveniently, making a tangible difference for him and his family.

We are creating a modified stroller that will be able to support a child that is about 90 lbs, and is collapsible and inexpensive.
