Stroller Extension

Stroller Extension - open-source assistive technology concept by the Vanderbilt University community

The challenge

This solution benefits caregivers of multiple young children, especially when one child requires a medical or adaptive stroller. It supports solo outings by eliminating the need for two strollers and can be used by parents, grandparents, daycare providers.

Who it helps

Parents or primary caregivers of two young children, where one child requires a medical stroller and the other does not but still benefits from stroller support for safe and efficient mobility.

How it works

This solution lets a single caregiver transport both twins safely by adding a detachable front seat to the medical stroller. It removes the need for a second stroller, improves maneuverability, ensures safety, and makes daily outings easier and efficient.

A detachable front-mounted seat attaches to a medical stroller, letting the other twin ride safely. It allows one caregiver to transport both children together, improving convenience, safety, and independence on daily outings.
