Accessible Graphics

Accessible Graphics - open-source assistive technology prototype by the BGU community

The challenge

Visually impaired and blind students face major barriers in math classes, especially with graphs. Traditional 2D drawings are inaccessible, making it incredibly hard for them to understand visual mathematical concepts and leaving them behind

Who it helps

Students with visual impairments and blindness

How it works

The kit turns abstract math into a physical experience. By creating instant embossed lines, visually impaired and blind students can literally "see" graphs with their hands in real-time. This bridges the educational gap and allows equal learning

An accessible tactile drawing kit. It uses a special rubber pad and a pen. When a teacher or student draws on a standard paper placed over the pad, the lines instantly rise into a clear physical relief that can be fully explored by touch

Tools needed

Measurement tool

Screwdriver set

Stanley knife

Hot glue gun
